Pfautec brings robot programming in-house with ArcNC

Pfautec used to rely on outside companies to program its welding robots. With ArcNC, several employees can now handle programming themselves, giving the team more flexibility in production.

Pfautec manufactures bicycles and tricycles in Quakenbrück, Germany, including models for people with limited mobility. Its production covers the work from design to assembly, with welding robots joining tubes into frames.

Programming within the team

"In the past, we couldn't do any programming ourselves. We always had to hire outside companies to do it."

Christian Westerkamp, Managing Director at Pfautec

Ease of use and quick programming drove Pfautec's choice of ArcNC. Several employees can now program the robots, giving the company a broader base of expertise. The team was also able to adapt and implement the system in-house to suit its own requirements.

From CAD files to robot programs

In Pfautec's welding shop, manager Fatih Uzunhasanoglu reports substantial time savings with ArcNC. CAD upload is his favorite feature: he can upload a file and let the software generate the robot program.

"For me, programming the robot used to feel like having to walk every single route on foot. Now, with ArcNC, we can take the high-speed train."

Getting started in production

Commissioning was straightforward for Fatih and the team. Their introduction to operating ArcNC went well. They quickly understood the software and could start work.

"Our productivity has improved a lot. We produce more units each day."

Fatih Uzunhasanoglu, Welding Shop Manager at Pfautec

Christian Westerkamp recommends ArcNC to companies working with small batches that want flexibility. At Pfautec, the team can respond flexibly to market conditions and carry out implementation in-house.

With ArcNC, Froschauer can now use the KUKA robot for as little as two-piece production

"We frequently have to weld parts in low quantities. With ArcNC, we can now use the KUKA robot for as little as two-piece production as soon as the welding time exceeds 20 minutes," says Engelbert Froschauer, owner and CEO. Froschauer GmbH is an innovative metal work shop in Upper Austria, serving their customers in various industries, such as commercial transportation, aerospace and agriculture. Their business strategy is simple and effective: leverage the newest technologies to stay competitive. For the past 9 months, ArcNC has been helping them to do just that: Leonhard Breit further explains why they love ArcNC: “We now program parts in under 30 minutes which would previously take multiple hours to program. And because search functions are extremely easy and quick to program, we also save rework time by increasing quality.”
